Distributed Generation
Traditional DG combustion technologies include reciprocating engine-generators and combined cycle combustion turbines. Unlike Preon's presence in PQ which is very broad, Preon's focus on DG is with micro turbines. Technology enhancements and demand for environmentally responsible alternatives is taking micro turbines mainstream. Typically, the exhaust heat stream is recovered in a combined heat and power (CHP) application, maximize efficiency. Micro turbines can also be used in renewable energy applications when the gas feedstock is the result of gasification, landfill or digester. In the future, Preon may also promote wind and solar solutions.
Preon's DG technology niches include:
- Standby Bio Diesel Gensets
- Micro Turbines with ancillary CHP equipment
- Paralleling Gear
