In 1998 Preon was one of the first PQ rep firms in the nation to establish Service as a dedicated business unit to commission and maintain UPS systems with in-house techs providing 7 x 24 response, preventative maintenance and periodic service. All other rep firms had to rely on factory service technicians to maintain UPS equipment sold to their clients. To date, Preon has commissioned over 600 UPS systems for PQ data center applications. Preon is also the exclusive service provider for micro turbine power plants utilized for the new Chicago Police Stations - emergency response application. The custom power supplies at 25 platforms for the 2nd largest light rail system in the nation, Chicago Transit Authority, are maintained by Preon. A satellite service center is coming on line in the Sheridan Wyoming office to support the energy sector: maintaining micro turbines for the coal bed methane industry as well as a renewable energy project for the pyrolizing of spent automobile tires out of Oregon.
